AnimPlayer histogram

A histogram illustrates how pixels in an image are distributed by graphing the number of pixels at each RGB(A) level. It shows whether the image contains enough detail in the shadows, midtones and highlights.

AnimPlayer displays by default a dedicated histogram for red, green and blue channels. These three histograms are overlaid by additive color compositing.

  • red + green = yellow
  • red + blue = magenta
  • blue + green = teal
  • red + green + blue = white

Individual display of only the red, green, blue or alpha channel (if available and loaded) is also possible. Just click on the relevant teapot icon.

The relevant numeric values are displayed on the left hand side of the Infobar.

To move the histogram window while in full screen mode just click and drag inside the histogram area.

Note: The histogram display is disabled if you are using YUV 4:2:2 color space together with JPEG images and "Fast JPEG loading" is active.

Displaying the histogram is very useful for image analysis, but may slow down your playback performance, so if you have playback performance issues while displaying the histogram, turn the histogram off by closing the window or press the [H] key again.
