For technical reasons really smooth playback is only possible if the display of frames is synchronized to your monitor(s) refresh-rate. This is the reason why AnimPlayer doesn't support variable display speeds.

However AnimPlayer is able to playback with correct speeds for Film, PAL and NTSC settings independent of your monitor(s) refresh rate, but this may result in playback which is not particularly smooth and precise.

One of AnimPlayer's unique features is its ability to playback TV-Fields. Using this mode you can verify whether an animation still jitters or if you need to add more motion blur.

To enter or leave field mode click the icon or press [F9]. When entering or leaving Field mode some brief calculations are necessary.

Please make sure playback is using the correct field order; if not click the icon or press [F10].

In Field mode both fields are shown separately as a full image one after another. This virtually doubles the number frames with following consequences:

• Playback speed should be doubled.
  If you are using the exact playback speed presets (FILM, PAL or NTSC) this is done automatically. Otherwise a warning dialog appears, and then you need to manually adjust the playback speed.
• The timecode display takes care of that and shows each single file adding a .0 or .1 at the end of the current timecode.
