This tutorial assumes working with an RLA image sequence which is provided in the in the tutorials subdirectory located in AnimPlayer's installation directory.

To keep AnimPlayers download size small, the setup provides a low resolution version only. Click here to download a high quality version of this RLA sequence.

  1. setup colorspace

Please go to the preferences dialog to setup AnimPlayers working colorspace to YUV 4:2:2.

  2. load the example image sequence

Setup has already set this image sequence in AnimPlayer's most recently used file list so you can load this sequence within two clicks:

  • click on the little arrow next to the open icon in the toolbar and then
  • click on the filename.
C:\Program Files\AnimPlayer\tutorials\AnimPlayer_Alpha_ZBuffer_0001.rla

The complete image sequence will be automatically detected and loaded and playback should start automatically. Press [Space] to stop and restart playback.

  • If you use the low resolution version, please press 1:2 [R] to double the display size.

Because rendered using TV fields, please turn on field mode pressing [F9] and make sure field order swapping is enabled by pressing [F10].

The images of this RLA sequence store additional image data:

  • an Alpha Channel which is the opacity / transparency mask
  • a Z-Buffer which describes the depth of each pixel

Please go to display modes help to finish this tutorial on how to display additional image data.
